Description:
The Community Mental Health Survey has been run on an annual basis since 2004, with the exception of 2009 when a survey of mental health inpatients was run. The Survey Coordination Centre for Existing Methods (SCCEM), based at Picker, manages and coordinates the Community Mental health Survey, the Urgent and Emergency Care Survey and the Children and Young People’s Survey as part of the NHS Patient Survey Programme (NPSP), on behalf of the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Information drawn from surveys in the NPSP are used by the CQC in its assessment of trusts in England. The results of the surveys are also used by NHS England and NHS Improvement, and the Department of Health and Social Care to understand service user experience and highlight areas for improvement.
